Robert over at smalldeadanimals sent an excellent letter to Charles Adler this week. I recommend it to all.
I too work in one of the industries the eco-nuts hate – I have spent my nearly 20 year career designing facilities that either extract petroleum from the earth, refine it into the fuels we use, or transform it into the chemicals and plastics that our modern society would collapse without. Like Robert, I have met many people who shake their heads and ask how I can work in such an “unethical industry”. I have answered similarly to Robert – do these people know how substantially the lifestyle they enjoy depends on exactly these industries? And they have no idea how much time and money is spent trying to minimize the environmental impacts of such development?

Some of them do know and they don’t care. They don’t see it as hypocrisy but as guerrilla warfare. They use the enemy’s own tools against them. I know one, a reporter and a friend, who actually knows that he is anti-human. They are against us all, and against themselves and some of them even know it.
They are the very literally traitors to mind and to the species.
People wonder how neighbors can turn to genocide on each other at the drop of a hat in some countries. I think I know. Faced with extinction there is nothing I wouldn’t do to stop it.
This is why they must work oh so slowly. -So slowly and seemingly harmlessly.

no radical environmentalist ideology can stand up to even the most superficial scrutiny, in fact I would like to see any of them to go off the benefit of fossil fuels for one day; in point of fact the vast majority are either just plain stupid or radical de-industrialation marxists who plan for the rest of us to live like pre-industrial age serfs
